watercolour
I began working with watercolour in 2022, drawn to its wayward nature—how pigment drifts, blooms, and resists containment. Within this fluidity, I found a language for emotion: vibrant colour seeping into paper like memory into consciousness. My practice moves through the fragile space between dreams and nightmares, where beauty and unease coexist and the inner world quietly reshapes what is seen.
Watercolour allows forms to dissolve and re-emerge, echoing the instability of perception and the soft violence of feeling. To press against this softness, I introduce ink and fountain pen—sharp, deliberate lines that cut through the wash like sudden clarity or intrusion. These marks anchor the work while unsettling it, creating tension between control and surrender, intention and accident.
The images that surface inhabit a dreamlike reality—familiar yet estranged, tender yet dissonant. They ask to be felt rather than understood, offering glimpses of a world filtered through heightened emotional states. Through colour and line, I seek to transform everyday emotion into something luminous and contemplative, inviting viewers to linger at the threshold between what is seen and what is sensed.
